Senior Akilan Sankaran has advanced to be one of the top 40 finalists in the prestigious Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS) 2025, a highly regarded national science and math competition for high school seniors. His project, From Walking to Tunneling: An Investigation of Generalized Pilot-Wave Dynamics, was part of a comprehensive evaluation that considered research skills, leadership, community involvement, and academic achievements.
Akilan was selected from nearly 2,500 applicants representing 795 high schools across 48 states and 14 countries, reflecting his dedication to scientific inquiry and personal growth. Earlier in the competition, Akilan was named one of the top 300 scholars, receiving $2,000, with an additional $2,000 granted to Albuquerque to support STEM education.
Now, as a finalist, Akilan will receive a larger financial award and will participate in a week-long competition in March.
